• Men and women who have HPV may not even know for a long time that they have it, because usually the virus does not show any signs or symptoms.

• Women can learn through PAP test screening whether they have abnormal cells that may progress to cervical cancer or not.

• However men do not have the chance to find out whether they are infected by HPV or through any kind of routine tests.

• Sometimes HPV may lead to visible genital warts on the external genital area of men and women.
